Built by Passion, Not by Committee
The #AE86 has become something of a legend, largely thanks to the popular manga and anime series Initial D. The protagonist drove the AE86 to victory in numerous races, turning the car into more than just a vehicle—it became a symbol that sparked a generation’s passion for car culture.
The AE86 is the fifth-generation Toyota Corolla, introduced in 1983. It’s a small, lightweight, and economical sports car designed with performance in mind. Known for its affordable price, excellent handling, and strong potential for modifications, the AE86 remains a favorite among enthusiasts.
Regarding the #AE85 and #AE86 models, the official names are Corolla Levin and Trueno. “Levin” comes from the old English word for lightning, while “Trueno” means thunder in Spanish—together representing lightning and thunder.
The GT86 fully carries forward the three core traits of the AE86: front-engine, rear-wheel drive, lightweight design, and balanced horsepower. It features a 2.0-liter boxer direct-injection engine, delivering up to 200 hp and 205 Nm of peak torque.
Though time has passed and the GT86 and AE86 are now distinct models, the dedication and spirit of the Japanese engineers behind them remain deeply inspiring.
#86 represents youth and #faith. Let’s look forward together to the arrival of the next #generation of 86.
